Jiddu Krishnamurti
1895 - 1986
Is there a thinker at all without thought? Is there space without the object? There is this object, the microphone in front, it creates space round it and it is in space. You have to understand this whole, very extraordinary question of space. There is the object which creates space round it, and that object also lives in space. Unless you know space without the object, your mind will always remain in limitation and therefore there is never freedom.

Editor’s prefatory comments:
Jiddu Krishnamurti has been an important teacher in my life. I began learning about the “true” and “false” selves about 15 years ago, and his insights served to inaugurate this vital area of enquiry.
