(at the home of Day Star and Big Water; on their back patio, surrounded
by gardens)

Day Star. You two should visit more often, don’t be such strangers.

Kairissi. We would like to, but I think your invitation will soon be tested to the limit when you have to be with us much of the time.

D. We heard about your decision to go to the Earth. What a momentous
time for both of you. Big Water and I are honored to be part of your
journey.

K. I’m so glad that both of you will be with us.

D. Dear sister, I know you are troubled by the challenges, and the
dangers, that lie ahead. Let us talk about whatever is on your mind.

K. Thank you, Day Star, I can see that I will love you forever.

D. Then I have been well paid in advance for all of my efforts. Please,
share your heart.

K. There’s so much… I guess what’s really on my mind are things I must
face alone – mainly, my fears of losing Elenchus. So I will move on to
some of the practical details of the trip, for which we will seek your
guidance.

D. We are here to serve you.

K. Thank you. We are open to your suggestions concerning geographical
setting, parents and relatives, social class, things of that nature.

Elenchus. Many planning a trip to the Earth might be concerned about such topics, but they are not so important to us.

D. You are Twins… and so I know what is important to you.

K. (sighing) We’re hoping we can find a way to be together a little more
than the norm. The MLP board explained some of the risks involved, so
we know we can’t have everything we want. But, we just hope to arrange
things to have as much of each other as possible.

D. I understand. I know this is all very hard. Allow me to frame what lies
ahead in the following manner. You have competing interests – short
term vs. long term. The entire mission, of necessity, must be focused
upon your long-term good, so we must preserve that as priority.

K. (sighing) Yes… of course.

D. That said, we’ll see what we can do for you two.

Big Water. Here’s the situation as I see it. Your long-term good requires a certain amount of suffering to help you focus, to break through the mental
chains of the small ego. So, you don’t want to eliminate too much of
the suffering. However, you do have some choice in terms of how and
when to endure the discomfort. If you take a benefit in one area, you’ll
need to “pay” for it in terms of counterbalancing suffering somewhere
along the line.

E. (sighing)

D. I don’t think you two fully realize just how unorthodox this is. The vast
majority of those going to the Earth never meet, or even think about,
their Twins, who might be a few worlds away. Among that tiny minority
who do become aware of a Twin, very few get to be together, especially,
consciously. Do you begin to see how unusual all this is?

K. I’m starting to. Why is there a chance that things could be different
for us?

D. You and Elenchus are a little more enlightened than the average; and
you have found each other even before going to the Earth, which is also
out of the norm. Considering these factors, your needs and desires are
different; as such, your mission-objectives will be somewhat different.
Naturally, as Twins you want to be together as much as possible. We
have to be careful though. To reiterate Big Water’s warning, if you ask
for extra time together, you will have to “pay” for it – and you could find
the price to be rather high.

E. How high might it be?

D. Because you are more conscious than average, your capacity to suffer
is also heightened.

E. It’s hard to win here, isn’t it?

D. It’s very hard. And that extra suffering might become so intense that,
worst case, your will to live, your very sanity, could be threatened. So
we have to be very careful. Once you two become aware of each other,
but cannot be together, the ensuing extreme sense of loss could easily
overwhelm. Remember, Twin affinity is the most powerful bond in the
universe, and to be conscious of its disruption might be like an open
wound that will not heal.

K. (sighing)

D. We’ll want to contain the required suffering to a reasonable length
of time. And this is why the general rule is that Twins do not go to the
Earth at the same time; or, if they do, it’s important to strictly manage
any direct contact.

B. Day Star speaks the truth.

K. I don’t want to put my mate in undue jeopardy – but, would I be
correct in assuming that the risks, and our chance for success, are related
to our resolve to do what we want to do – our inner strength, and our
love for each other?

D. Yes… that is a factor.

K. There’s another thing, too. I hesitate to ask because I know we’re
already “raising eyebrows” with what we want, but… ideally, I’d so much
like to go through this with a truly-shared experience with the boy I love;
even if we’re not fully present to each other much of the time, it would
mean something to me if I could at least have a small amount of real
happiness with Elenchus while on the Earth. Am I asking for too much?

D. We’ll see what we can do for you in our planning.

E. I cautiously agree with Kairissi. I would not want to put her under too
much stress; but, if it were possible, it would be wonderful if we could
be together at least a little while.

D. Alright then, you two. Our dire disclosures have been made and still
you are resolved what to do. If you are not to be talked out of your
intentions, then we will tentatively proceed as per today’s discussion.
Would you like to meet here again next week? Big Water and I will
present our recommendations.
