K. Look, Ellus, I don’t care! I want to find a way for us to be together
when we go!

E. But, Kriss, you know we have to be careful with that. Remember
what they said: Too much time together could negate the benefits of
the trip; and any direct contact at all will just make us more miserable.

K. (sighing) Ok, yes, but, there must be some middle ground that could
work. I’m hoping our Guides will help us sort this out.

E. I didn’t realize the Earth-trip would be harder for Twins. I mean, the
average guy, spiritually unconscious, jaunts off to Earth and his biggest
worry is making money, getting a job, wishing he could be a rock star, or
just loafing. He lives a nondescript, self-centered life, is about as aware
as a cocker spaniel, shoots back to Summerland, lollygags on a beach
for a hundred years, begins to wake up, finds his Twin, and life is good.

K. (very softly laughing) Well, I think you exaggerate just a little.
Besides, you know what they told us – it’s not just about us. That would-be rock star on a beach for a hundred years will have some catching up
to do when he comes to his senses. I don’t think he’ll feel so good about
himself with his regrets about misspent opportunities.

E. My apologies to cocker spaniels.

K. (softly laughing)

E. You know, you called me “soldier boy,” that military spirit. But
I don’t feel so disciplined right now. I’m going through my own terrors
about losing you. Have you considered that we’ll probably have to marry
others while there? It’s making me a little crazy just thinking about
someone else touching you.

K. Yes, I know… Do you remember the teachings of Andrew
Jackson Davis? He used a phrase, “the virginity of the soul.” Only you,
my Twin, can reach me, touch me, in the truest sense.

E. That really doesn’t help me right now. I intend to go through
with this, but I don’t know how I’ll survive, I’m already grieving for you.
I know I won’t be setting any records, but just trying to get through it, to
make my way back home to you.

K. Dear Love, you sound a little angry. May I tell you what you told me?
– Ellus, you can’t lose me. I am yours, I belong to you, for all time.

E. (deeply sighing)

K. (softly) If you get into trouble down there, if you forget who I am, I will
wait for you, I will try to help you as I can. And when we come back here,
I will help you to regain your health. I will never leave you.

E. (sighing)

K. And if I get into trouble, if my sorrow in losing you overwhelms, and I
go a little crazy, maybe even, as Lateece said, become your enemy for a
time, then, you must promise to rescue me, to help me as you can, and
wait for me until I find myself. (very softly weeping)

E. (sighing)

K. And if we both get into trouble, then we’ll have our loyal Guides to
bring us home, and to each other. (smiling through tears) Other than
those little things, we can have a nice day.

E. Don’t make me laugh right now, I want to sulk for a while.

K. Darling… we could also consider the option of going to the
Earth at different times; that way, at least one of us would be assured of
maintaining sanity and safety here in Summerland.

E. I don’t know, Kriss… that almost sounds worse to me… it’s
just another way of losing you… I’m reminded of what Mark Twain said
in his short-story about Adam and Eve… “It’s better to live outside the
Garden with her, than inside it… without her.”
