Reincarnation On Trial

Is not progress a forward indicator?
Don't die facing the wrong direction.

Emma Hardinge Britten:

Much as I loathe the thought or bare possibility of living again as a mortal on this cold, hard, sorrowful world, I would willingly bend my mind acceptance of the idea, were it capable of proof or demonstration.

The doctrine of a return to Earth for the sake of progress is unnecessary, every returning spirit speaking of and affirming progress to the eternal in spirit life.

The doctrine is contrary to any of the known laws of nature, which never returns upon its footsteps. All its circles are spirals - all its cycles are upwards and onwards, never backwards or downwards. The oak never returns to be the acorn, the eagle never returns to be the egg.

Harry Boddington, The University Of Spiritualism:

The general objection to reincarnation is that it is retrogressive and quite out of keeping with nature's usual method of proceeding from a lower to a higher form of manifestation...

[We] oppose the doctrine of reincarnation because the next phase of life contains all the elements essential to progress... The great objection to [reincarnation] is that it creates an 'earthbound' condition by centering all attention upon physical planes in place of spiritually progressive planes of consciousness.

Two Years In Heaven, Dr. C.H. Carson, channeled testimony from his wife in the afterlife:

"The true meaning and purpose of my existence have been made clear to me. I realize that material life was for me a preparation for a larger sphere of influence in spiritual realms. I know that I shall go on and on, throughout all eternity, growing and expanding in knowledge and attaining a more nearly perfect realization.

"The consciousness that I have attained tells me this great truth: The soul aspiring for progress never retrogrades; it goes on and on, throughout all eternity, toward greater achievements and higher realizations.

"I shall always recall with the greatest interest a gathering of gifted beings who have been inhabitants of the higher regions for millions and millions of years. They were magnificent in appearance, but they possessed the stature of men and women. They were wise beyond my powers of understanding, and the spiritual power that vibrated from them was marvelous. From my observation of them I realized more than ever before that man was the Creator’s masterpiece; for he retains the higher part of his individuality and the same general appearance, though he may pass through ages of time."

Dr. Carl Wickland, Thirty Years Among The Dead:

Dr. J. M. Peebles, on the Other Side, speaks through psychic-medium, Mrs. Wickland.

Dr. Wickland asks if souls reincarnate:

"Why should you want to come back again? Why should you go back to be confined in a small body and have no will of your own? In the spirit world you are free to travel everywhere; you do not need a physical body.

"Why go back into that prison again? Why should a child, ready to enter High School, go back to the Sixth, Seventh or Eighth grade? Those of you who are here at the present time, when you have learned the primary lesson of life, would you like to go back into a small body, and know nothing? When you travel, you learn. You can learn in one day here what it takes ten or twelve years to learn on earth. If you feel like seeing things, you travel... You cannot light again a candle that has burned out.

"Life is progression not retrogression. You go from one degree to another, and so, on and on."

Where the ancient teachers dwell is where the action is, where you want to be!

James Webster:

There is little spiritual profit in looking backwards to historical and traditional teachings. The creative thing is to look upwards and to attune oneself to the celestial spheres in which the ancient teachers now dwell...

The spiritualists are becoming increasingly aware that after death humans begin a long journey through a series of ever higher spiritual states, and that their guides and ministrants are themselves the instruments of higher beings. The door is thus opening to an advanced type of spiritualism, involving communion with celestial souls who have attained true angelhood.
