Source always grants every good thing we want and in the shortest time possible: ‘union of spirits’ is not ‘underlying soul bond’
Editor’s note: After nearly 20 years of attempting to decipher the message of ‘The Wedding Song,’ it now becomes clear that ‘union of spirits’ is not the same as ‘underlying soul bond’.
The ‘union of spirits,’ it seems to me, speaks to ‘meeting of the minds.’ A couple might share a Twin Soul bond without knowing mental agreement, and even see themselves as enemies.

The underlying soul bond was forged in the ‘soul nursery,’ right from the beginning, and this is why mystics like Andrew Jackson Davis say that Twins were ‘born married.’
However, despite this soul bond, during the immature years, Twins can harbor different mental orientations, and even believe themselves to be enemies. The ‘union of spirits,’ the ‘meeting of the minds,’ is something they need to grow into, and will develop, as they mature.
What prompted my insight?
‘The Wedding Song’ puts forward an evolutionary perspective. Twins represent an apex of human development. The underlying soul bond, however, is static, a constant steady-state nexus of divine energy binding the destined two.
This bond isn’t going away; those couples who have it cannot lose it, and those bereft cannot get it. It’s factory-installed, can’t be removed or retro-fitted.
The ‘union of spirits,’ the ‘meeting of the minds,’ is different. It's fluid, part of the mind's quantum field of possibility. Our own decisions to ‘remain sane’, to subdue the ego, to align with Source, directly bear upon receipt of the couple’s mental agreement.
What are the practical applications?
Some might question, if two have a soul bond, why the delay, why can’t they be together right away? But the soul bond, while enjoying primary importance, is just the foundation. And you can’t live in a foundation. We need to build the superstructure of the ‘union of spirits,’ the ‘meeting of the minds.’
And concerning ‘delay,’ August Goforth offered the insightful comment that Source never delays any good thing. ‘Delay’ is the wrong way of looking at what’s happening. This is the ego's distorted view. Source always desires to give us any good thing we want, as soon as possible. The ‘delay’ occurs on our side of the equation: we’re not ready.
Instead of ‘delay,’ we should think in terms of prep time, that’s what’s really going on. We’re given time to prepare to receive, allowing Source to give us what we want. Good things are never delayed in the kingdom of God.
And – also from August Goforth – we don’t need ‘patience’, either. Patience is a strait-jacket worn by the ego to control itself. Patience is internal conflict -- the root word itself means suffering and pain (this is why a doctor's clients are called 'patients'). Patience means we want something but can’t have it, and then grit our teeth to behave ourselves.
But once we see the hand of Source in our lives, and perceive that we need a time of preparation, patience is not required; then we willingly agree, with ourselves, that it’s not a bad thing to wait for what we want, lest we create suffering in our lives by ill-timed receipt of blessing.
The truth of the matter is, Source always grants us what we want in the shortest time possible, given all factors in play. In physics there is the principle of ‘least action.’ Nature itself is arranged to take the shortest path to achieve its purpose. And ‘least action’ also governs the flow of spiritual blessings to us.
I said that, eventually, we ‘agree with ourselves.’ We stop resisting life as it was meant to be for us. We surrender to the whispering guidance of Spirit in our lives. We finally accept the will of God, designed to offer us maximum happiness.
When we do, in the context of the eternal marriage, we desire to assume our roles as Love and Wisdom, an emulation of Mother-Father God.
And now we’ve entered the blissful state of ‘union of spirits.’
building a life together in Summerland
This topic has been on my mind a great deal. I’ve written extensively about it. I’ve spoken of ‘entering God’s harvest fields’.
In some of the writings I’ve used the fictional character, Jamie Sullivan, to exemplify a service-minded ideal.

At one point I stated that a potential mate does not need to be like Jamie Sullivan. But now I’m reconsidering this statement.
Entering the harvest fields of God is not some optional activity like deciding to take up sculpting. Every mature daughter and son of God will feel compelled to enter this life of service toward the disadvantaged - this is so because it's what The Family Of God does, part of our spiritual DNA from the divine Parent(s).
But it’s more than this for Twins. Her guy, in process of fulfilling the role of Wisdom, is hard-wired to ‘go into the world’ to find his work in life. He has to do this. And he needs to be with a service-minded girl, like a Jamie Sullivan...

who wants the same, at least insofar as desiring to be with him in all things, no matter what comes up in their eternal lives. They need to agree on this, that 'meeting of the minds', or they're not ready for the real marriage.
'willing to go anywhere with me, do anything, and love it'
Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window (1954), Grace Kelly, Jimmy Stewart, Thelma Ritter
Nurse: When are you going to marry Miss Fifth Avenue? You know you love her.
He: (sighing) I just don’t see how it can work. She's too perfect. I’m a photographer, on assignment all over the world and in backwater places that aren't even on the map. Any girl who gets stuck with me has to not mind living in hiking boots and jeans, with her hair matted and nails chipped. I need her more ordinary, willing to go anywhere with me, and do anything, and love it. I don't know if she can do that.

She will also have her own sacred role, the relationship-family oriented domain, her own natural default setting. But this does not remove his need for her to be with him in his work; which will now also become her work. He will rely on her keen powers of intuitive insight.
This joint effort, this desire and willingness to work together in life, is very much part of the ‘union of spirits,’ a ‘meeting of the minds.’
They will not be happy together, or count themselves as fulfilled before God, unless and until they’re on the same page with this.
